In March 1912, religious Laramie men had a meeting and proposed a bowling alley and gymnasium in the basement of St. Matthew's Cathedral.
In January 1916, several Laramie bowlers of the St. Matthew's parish again discussed a basement bowling alley for the city's use and a subscription membership raised $365 matched by Judge M. N. Grant during a supper. In February, another meeting formalized the plan to move forward with the basement recreation room as $600 was pledged. By March 2016, the basement bowling alley was under construction in the Cathedral hall by the C. W. Holliday company. |
